I have been a reenactor for about 30 years but until recently have concentrated on German costumes. Now that I have rejoined the SCA I am looking to broaden my horizons and spend more time and effort on research and duplication of costumes from other regions, I did enter the challenge a few years ago but withdrew due to the world imploding around me, I am now back on track and look forward to getting my Italian on, I have made many costumes over the years but this will be my second complete Italian so while not a novice sewer I don’t consider my self to be an expert so am on the high end of novice in Italian.

I am planning to duplicate the outfit of Justina of Padua by Bartolomeo Montagna, I am planning to make

Layer 1. a camicia, in white with full sleeves
Layer 2. Underdress, with a fancy band of pearl and embroidery work along the neckline
Layer 3. An overdress with detachable sleeves, with fancy edging and pearls and embroidery to match on the sleeves which will be attached by ribbons
Layer 4. hair net jeweled with ponytail cover and jeweled bands; belt also jeweled and made of leather; necklace and brooch set as per the portrait; pouch as appropriate to the period. There is none in the portrait but plenty of period portraits which have them. Still deciding which one to do.
