My name is Marion Crossman. My good neighbour and friend has encouraged me to enter the challenge this year. I have been making my own clothes since the age of twelve and though I am enthusiastic I am definitely a novice.
My chosen dress is from a painting by Domenico Ghirlandaio, Presentation of a Virgin at the Temple, 1486-1490.
I will be making a camicia, a gamurra, a giornea and a saccoccia.
There is a wonderful charity shop near our farm in the Central Tablelands and I will be purchasing everything from there. At this stage I have a red and gold brocade which I will use for the gamurra and a blue and gold fabric which I will use for the giornea.
