In the Society for Creative Anachronism I am known as Lady Anjuili Foljambe. I live in the Barony of Stonemarche. I have been in the SCA for about 30 years now. I have made all my own gowns and most of my children's garb in that time. I prefer Elizabethan but have been dabbling in Italian Renaissance as my girls and granddaughter seem to prefer it. I saw this as an interesting challenge and thought I would give it a go.
I am going to make the dress from the portrait of Saint Justina of Padua by Bartolomeo Montagna. Layer one will be a camicia and bloomers. Layer 2 will be a sleeve-less petticoat. The third layer will be the dress in the portrait. The fourth and final layers will be jewelry, fan, an embroidered sweet bag. I will also make a cap and braid case but as I do not like the one in the portrait I am going to use another portrait (Isabella d'Este by Ambrogio de Predis) from the same period to make my head piece.
