Carlos Arteta
North Carolina, USA

My name is Carlos Arteta. I found out about this contest through my lovely wife and after a little thought I decided to join the challenge. I am still a beginner costumer but I have made a handful of Ottoman kaftans and related accessories since 2014. I am using this challenge to test my skills and to expand my costumes to include fabulous 16th century Italian clothes.

Whilst my wife (Liz Turner) was doing research for this very challenge, and since I am also interested in creating a Venetian costume for myself, a few images piqued my interest. The outfit that most fascinated me is the Itali Pullati (Italian Mourners) found in Folio 11 Recto of the Album of Costume Studies found in the Morgan Library and Museum’s Collection.
