Kathleen Zanardo
New South Wales, Australia

Hi, my name is Kathleen Zanardo and I live in the Blue Mountains near Sydney, Australia. I am excited to be entering the IRCC for the third year in a row. I have been sewing since I was a teenager.

My proposed outfit will be a faithful reproduction of the outfit in a portrait of a lady, painted by a follower of Francesco Salviati (1510-1562).

After making last year’s IRCC outfit for my eldest daughter, this year I want to make an outfit for my younger adult daughter. When I came across this painting I knew it was the one. A beautiful outfit on a lady who bears a striking resemblance to my daughter.

As in the painting, my outfit will comprise the following items: camicia, doublet with gold lace collar and cuffs, under-skirt and over-dress (both with hand-printed braid), handmade gloves, set of jewellery (girdle, necklace, pearl necklace & ring), and a scuffia (cap decorated with ribbon and beads).

To complete the outfit I will also make a corset, hooped petticoat and a pair of shoes.
