My historical costuming has mostly been done within the Society for Creative Anachronism and I've been doing that for 30 years. So I'm not really a novice to either costuming or Italian costuming. Although my main focus for a while has been English 16th century, I have done a few Italians along the way. I've never entered before as work commitments have made it difficult - but this year I have a lot of holiday time I have to use up, and what better way to use it up than to have fun making cute frocks.

I will be working on a Florentine women's outfit from 1560-ish. I haven't quite worked out the fabric yet, I have a few things in stash I want to use, I just need to sort out the right combination to use. This will be for my teenage daughter. The exact items are not set in stone but my plan at this point is:

  • Drawers
  • Camicia
  • Sottana
  • Zimmara
  • Partlet
  • Headdress with pearls
  • Hair pins
  • Girdle
  • Earrings and necklace
  • Stockings
