I guess you could say I'm an old hand at both costuming and Italian. But I'm always learning new things so it still feels new to me each time. I'm also a baking and candy making geek. Plus I play a Venetian Courtesan persona in the Society for Creative Anachronism.

This year my hope is to make my full outfit from my stash, which I'll admit is getting a wee bit unwieldy at this point.

I'm planning on loosely basing my outfit this portrait, although my finished product will be a bit more 1590's in cut.

Here's the layers I'm planning:

  • Camicia
  • Drawers
  • Petticoat Stays
  • Silver brocade sottana
  • Purple heraldic loose gown

Accessories are still an evolving plan, but I'm hoping to complete at least a pocket, a hairpiece, a girdle, and a pair of pantofle. If time allows I'm also hoping to get a zibellino done.

I've started these thread wrapped buttons for the loose gown. I should have about 80 completed before the start of construction.
