Embroidery for a Caul/Scuffia

I was inspired to take part in this challenge for reasons very close to my heart. As I am an avid embroiderer I decided to work on embroidery for a snood/caul. I have seen examples in many portraits and have long wished to attempt one.

I was unable to find a design that I liked so asked my wife to design one for me. She drew up a simple basket weave pattern which I transferred onto the linen by using a dissolvable pen.

I have back-stitched the design using a very pale pink cotton embroidery thread.

I will now pass this onto my wife who will make it up into a snood to match her outfit she made for the PPP.
